Home Buying 101 Seminar scheduled for June 24 and 26

By Greg Oehler, Broker/Owner of GMAC Real Estate Fredericksburg

I like learning, especially when it has to do with something important. For most of us, our home is the largest single investment we will ever make. In my books, that is important. Therefore, I want to know something about the process before I jump in there. There are different ways to learn, but you may want to invest a little of your time in our free seminar being held at CHASE Bank in Fredericksburg, Texas. Local industry professionals will give you an outline of the process and allow time to answer questions. You will learn about the home-buying and lending process, including Earnest Money Contracts, Buyer Representation, Appraisals, Loan Approval and Pre-qualification, Option Money, and the Closing.

We will cover things like:

  • Five steps to purchasing a home
  • What information will I need to work with a lender?
  • What is the difference between loan pre-qualification and loan approval?
  • How will I know if I can get a loan?
  • How much will I need for the down payment and closing costs?
  • The single biggest mistake many first timers make BEFORE they purchase a home
  • What is the MLS and how can it help you?
  • What part does the Realtor play?
  • Why do I need a title company?
  • Glossary of real estate terms!

You will hear people tell about their first time home buyer war stories.

Door prices include Dining Dough and ROCKBOX tickets. Refreshments will be provided. The first evening’s topics will cover the home buying process; for the second evening, we will focus more on the loan process and your credit report.
